Job Description

Controller

Build the Finance Function. Transform the Backbone. Drive Operational Clarity.

We are seeking a Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for our growing third‑party collections organization. This is a hands‑on, transformation‑focused role responsible for turning a legacy accounting environment into a structured, efficient, and scalable finance function. You will own core accounting, elevate reporting, strengthen controls, and build the systems and automation that support operational decision‑making and profitable growth. This role is also key in building a succession plan for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Core Accounting & Close

· Drive a timely, consistent monthly close

· Oversee GL, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements

· Ensure accuracy in revenue recognition and client trust/restricted cash

· Maintain audit‑ready documentation and support audits

2. Financial Reporting & Analysis

· Produce decision‑useful reporting (client margin, cost drivers, cash flow)

· Partner with leadership on pricing, profitability, and cost structure

3. Process Improvement & Automation

· Eliminate manual workflows and streamline close, reconciliations, and reporting

· Implement or optimize ERP, reporting tools, and integrations

· Build scalable, documented processes

4. Internal Controls & Compliance

· Strengthen controls around client funds and revenue/fee calculations

· Ensure compliance with client requirements and audit standards

· Lead audit preparation and execution

5. Team Development

· Operate initially as a player‑coach or solo contributor

· Define future team structure and establish clear workflows

6. Business Partnership

· Collaborate with Operations, Client Services, and Support Units

· Ensure billing accuracy, data integrity, and performance visibility

· Translate financial data into actionable insights

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

· 6–12+ years of progressive accounting experience

· Ownership of month‑end close and financial statement preparation

· Strong MS Office and accounting systems proficiency (ERP preferred)

· Demonstrated process‑improvement capability

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in BPO, collections, financial services, or high‑volume environments

· Understanding of performance‑based revenue models

· Experience building cost models and operational reporting

· CPA preferred but not required
