Columbia Mental Health is seeking a compassionate and bilingual Spanish-English Mental Health Therapist (LCPC, LGPC, LMSW) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in Washington, DC. In this role, you will provide individualized, evidence-based psychotherapy and comprehensive mental health services to a diverse adult and adolescent patient population, with a particular focus on Spanish-speaking clients who may face language and cultural barriers to care. As a core member of our interdisciplinary clinical team, you will conduct thorough biopsychosocial and diagnostic assessments using DSM-5-TR criteria, develop collaborative, person-centered treatment plans, and deliver individual, family, and group therapy tailored to each patient’s needs. You will provide trauma-informed, strengths-based care for a wide range of conditions, including mood and anxiety disorders, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, psychotic disorders, and co-occurring conditions, while incorporating culturally responsive approaches that honor each patient’s background and lived experience. Your responsibilities will include ongoing risk assessment and crisis intervention, including safety planning, de-escalation, and coordination with emergency or higher levels of care when necessary. You will maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in our electronic health record system, track progress toward treatment goals, and adjust interventions based on patient response and best-practice guidelines. Regular consultation and collaboration with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, primary care providers, and other mental health professionals will be an essential part of your work, ensuring truly holistic, integrated care. Columbia Mental Health provides comprehensive psychiatric services using advanced therapeutic approaches, and you will have the opportunity to apply and deepen your skills in modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, mindfulness-based interventions, and other evidence-based practices. You will also provide psychoeducation to patients and families, support adherence to treatment recommendations, and help connect patients with community resources, social supports, and ancillary services that enhance overall well-being. Our organizational culture is inclusive, supportive, and empathetic. We prioritize innovation, collaboration, and professional growth, creating an environment where clinicians can thrive while delivering exceptional patient care. As a Mental Health Therapist here, you will participate in regular case consultations, clinical team meetings, and quality-improvement initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and expanding access to high-quality mental health services for underserved communities in Washington, DC. Working at Columbia Mental Health offers meaningful opportunities to engage with leading mental health professionals and contribute to holistic, person-centered care. You will benefit from a supportive environment focused on continuous learning, including access to supervision appropriate to your licensure level, mentorship, and encouragement to pursue ongoing continuing education and advanced training. This position is ideal for a bilingual therapist who is passionate about health equity, committed to ethical and culturally sensitive practice, and eager to grow in the mental health field while making a tangible difference in patients’ lives every day. We are seeking candidates with a Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related mental health discipline and active or eligible DC licensure as an LCPC, LGPC, or LMSW (or equivalent). Fluency in both Spanish and English is required, and prior experience in outpatient, community mental health, or integrated care settings is strongly preferred. In return, Columbia Mental Health offers a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package that typically includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401k plan, as well as the flexibility of a hybrid work environment that may combine on-site and telehealth services to best meet patient needs while supporting clinician work-life balance.
