Job Description
- Assist dentist during various procedures including chairside help across general dentistry, handling instruments, suction, mixing materials (four-handed dentistry)
- Preparing treatment rooms and sterilizing instruments, keep treatment rooms stocked and organized
- Taking dental X-rays
- Sterilizing and disinfecting equipment, assisting with infection control procedures according to OSHA and CDC guidelines
- Educate patients on oral health and post-operative care instructions
- Ensure patients comfort before, during and after treatment
- Maintain accurate patients records and assist with front office bilingual support as needed
- Answer basic treatment-related questions
- Assist with scheduling and patient flow
- Handle lab cases (sending/receiving dental work)
- Pour models
Scope of practice for an RDA is regulated by the Dental Board of California and duties can vary depending on certification.
