School Nurse Clinic Assistant

General Summary/Responsibilities:
The School Nurse Clinic Assistant performs clinic and clerical duties, under the direction of the School Nurse. The assistant helps with health screening activities, maintains health records and administers student medications under the supervision of the district nurse. The clinic assistant provides daily care for ill or injured students and supports staff/student medical emergencies.

Qualifications

Education

Minimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED


Additional requirements:
• Type of degree: MA, CNA, STNA preferred


Licensure/Certification/Registration

CPR - BLS for Healthcare Providers card

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience

Knowledge/Skills
• Documented evidence of a clear criminal record and meets all mandated health screening requirements (e.g., negative tuberculosis test, etc.).
• Proficient in the use of computer software and maintenance of office records.
• Proficient in data entry and customer service.
• Proficient in record keeping skills and the ability to compute mathematical data accurately.
• Multitasking ability and strong people skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with parents.
