Job Description

The Sr. Tester supports that mission by contributing to the day-to-day operations of an applications testing team. In this role, you will: Identify and document test data requirements. Create and maintain requirements traceability matrices. Coordinate with Project Managers and Business Analysts throughout the testing process to ensure correct test and defect status is relayed. Provide guidance when testers need one-on-one automation support, and be an evangelist for automation. Know and understand what types of automation are useful for different stages of development. A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis. Minimum Qualifications: 5 years of professional experience as a software tester, or quality assurance engineer using multiple testing tools and methods, or 5 years experience as a software developer. Experience applying digital accessibility regulations and standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) to business processes, content, tools, and/or documents, with the ability to provide specific examples of accessibility improvements made. Substitutions: Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications. Training or certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications. If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis. Preferred Qualifications: Hands‑on experience developing automated tests and testing frameworks or harnesses using automated test tools such as Selenium or Katalon, UFT and implementing those tests in a CI process using Jenkins or other CI tools. Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, SOAP UI or similar. Hands‑on technical testing experience with at least one unit test automation framework (jUnit, Unit, nUnit or mocking frameworks such as jMockit or Easy Mock). Experience converting manual regression tests to automated tests using tools such as Selenium, UFT, Katalon or other automated testing tools. Experience with creating, configuring and maintaining testing environments using Hyper‑V or other virtualization tools. Experience testing cloud‑based applications or distributed systems. Strong understanding of SQL, HTML, CSS and XML. Experience with Selenium automation using Java. Conditions of Employment: OIT employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work. Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre‑employment drug test. This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed. All remote work must be performed in Colorado. While candidates from out of state will be considered for this role, the candidate selected for the position must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of their new position.
