Position: Truck Driver
Time Schedule: M-F 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Salary Rate or Ratio: $22.64-$25.13 p/hour
Reports to: Phil de Roche, Director of Operations
Employment Status: Classified - Regular/Full-time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Probationary Period: 120 days


Description: Under general supervision, is responsible for the operation of a truck or van to transport supplies, including inter-school mail, cafeteria supplies, technology equipment, books, money deposits, bulk mail, and any other school-related materials to various school facilities and the local metropolitan area. Performs related maintenance tasks as required and needed.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two to three years of related experience
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and insurable
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Supervisor and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

  • Basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a motor vehicle
  • Ability to handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously and in a timely manner

Essential Functions:
  • Operates van/truck safely and in accordance with state law, regulations of the state and local boards of education and regulations established by the Superintendent
  • Promote good safety practices and procedures
  • Cares for and maintains the safety of the van pursuant to the directives of the Director of Operations
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, the requirement to work outdoors during all types of weather conditions
  • Maintains physical capability to appropriately lift and manage materials for transportation to and from school buildings
  • Inspects van/truck weekly to ensure safe operation and reports problems to the Director of Operations.
  • Keeps the inside of the van clean and the front and rear windows clear
  • Drives a vehicle to transport materials and written communications between school district buildings
  • Ensures correct materials and written communications are delivered to the correct building location
  • Deliver bank deposits, cash, and other financial information to banks or agencies
  • Count, reconcile, post receipts, and prepare deposits daily
  • Maintain files, distribute mail, and safely load and unload items at school buildings
  • Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
  • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents
  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation
  • Outstanding attendance and punctuality
  • Attend meetings and in-services as required

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a motor vehicle
  • Ability to handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously and in a timely manner
  • Follow specific directions for special mailings at the post office
  • Follow directions as verbally received from the district administration and the immediate supervisor
  • Perform other maintenance duties as assigned by the Director of Operations
  • Deliver small amounts and various types of office supplies to schools and or between schools as required.

  • Other equipment as deemed necessary to complete job functions
Additional Working Conditions:
  • Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions
  • Regular requirement to sit, stand, and walk. talk, hear, see (color vision required), read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, climb, balance, kneel and stoop
  • Requirement to lift/carry items as necessary
