Responsibilities Conduct field work, sampling, and laboratory procedures for brine shrimp conservation and management. Conduct limnological sampling and research on and around Great Salt Lake. Conduct facilities and equipment maintenance on sampling equipment, boats, ATV's, as well as buildings and grounds. Coordinate aquatic research. Design field and laboratory experiments. Present findings from research to professional groups and other organizations for education purposes. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field of study or direct related work experience. Background in wildlife or aquatic biology with an emphasis on research. Proficient in using Microsoft Office programs. Able to develop, direct, and evaluate programs. Understand applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Have great oral and written communication skills. Understand principles, theories, and practices of wildlife management. Compose and produce reports and written documents. Preferred Qualifications Education - MS degree preferred. Experience managing or studying wildlife and wetland habitats on the Great Salt Lake. Experience in a limnological discipline. Experience operating boats and maintaining them. Experience with data entry and statistical analysis. Excellent teamwork attitude; willing to assist co‑workers when needed. Working Conditions Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc. Work for an extended period of time in extreme weather conditions. Work in and around bodies of water. Physical Requirements Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy items (up to 100 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time. Operate boats on large bodies of water. Other Requirements Must have or obtain and maintain a valid Utah driver's license. Work schedule may vary to accommodate job assignments. Work on the weekends, holidays and evenings may be required. Travel and occasional overnight travel possible. Evening and weekend work as needed, on-call during emergencies as needed.
